REAL weddings: Becca & Alex

Becca and Alex’s elegant, intimate micro-wedding at Alex’s childhood home was just one of those days you know you’ll never forget. But here’s the thing, it was almost very different.

They’d planned a wedding for all their friends and family at Cafe Brauer (a venue I adore), but with continuous uncertainty around the pandemic, they decided to shift.

Instead of pushing their wedding date and hoping for the best, they decided to focus instead on creating an intentional, small wedding to celebrate with those dearest to them. And It. Was. STUNNING.

Every detail, every moment held such meaning. Becca’s fantastic dress still showed off her fantastic style yet also suited celebrating at home. Alex’s gorgeous childhood home became just that little bit more with the addition of fresh blooms and subtle accents, the whole at-home wedding a warm, celebratory feel. I loved to hear his Mom marvel that she was home, yet couldn't quite believe it. It felt like we’d walked into the pages of a Vanity Fair photo spread and at the same time you were still welcome to kick off your shoes and languish in your favorite fuzzy slippers (which Alex’s grandmother did!).

Becca and Alex’s ability to adjust their plans not only because of the state of the world that couldn’t be avoided but also to lean deeper into the core values was a beautiful reflection of just how many different ways you can plan a wedding. This intimate at-home wedding was full of style yet also deeply personal - a personal favorite combination.

They took the uncertainty of these times and turned it into something unforgettable in the best of ways. If that’s not a perfect illustration of the beauty of micro-weddings, I don’t know what is.
