Micro Wedding at the Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago

For a year and a half we’ve talked about how #loveisessential and that the one thing COVID couldn’t stop was love. For some, this might have sounded a bit too cheesy to believe to be true… But for Wee & Sherin, it was literally their reality. And celebrating that very love with a micro wedding at the Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago couldn’t have been a more fitting way to officially become husband & wife.

Having met just before Chicago went under lockdown (and both working in healthcare with at-risk, immunosuppressed patients) these two took every precaution as seriously as possible. But they also took what clearly was becoming a very important relationship seriously. Thanks to nice weather, they found safe ways to plan dates outdoors and keep their patients safe. Their micro wedding celebration was a natural progression in a relationship that is very clearly rooted in the love and care of their communities and the world.

We started things off with a traditional tea ceremony at Sherin’s apartment, but before we get to all that, a note on these detail photos: Sometimes details can just feel like objects… Pictures of stuff. But sometimes - the best of times - they are symbols of so much more. They are obvious signs of love from family & friends who can’t be present. They are reminders of the people who have gone before us and left a never-ending mark on our lives. They are a tangible way of holding those close that we can no longer hug. This was the intention to detail that Wee & Sherin brought to their micro wedding day and what makes “the stuff” so very, very special. I’m so glad we made sure to carve out time to capture these gifts.

Want to know one of my favorite things about micro weddings? The calm flexibility of the day’s schedule. After the tea ceremony, Wee & Sherin changed into western celebration outfits and met at the nearby Chicago Women’s Garden for a formal First Look. We were able to allow these two as much time as they wanted to soak in every moment of the day. From enjoying the gardens in full bloom to spending a little extra time downtown while a street performer serenaded them - The typical hustle and (literal) bustle of a wedding day was nowhere to be seen. And it was magical.

Tell me you’re having a micro wedding during COVID without telling me you’re having a micro COVID wedding…

In all seriousness, I’ve never been inside of the Lincoln Park Conservatory when it wasn’t busy. Always a gorgeous location, left alone to grow and flourish for the last year, the Show Room really leaned in hard to its name and created the perfect, intimate, romantic setting for these two to say “I do.” As I told Wee & Sherin that day, I think I’m now ruined for life. Once you’ve experienced the Lincoln Park Conservatory in peaceful silence, documenting a newly married couple meander around, soaking in every moment while simultaneously placing their own love story amidst the millennia of history surrounding them, there’s really no other way to experience it…

Last but certainly not least - Wee & Sherin celebrated the night with their closest loved over a delicious meal at Eden Chicago. Eden Chicago happens to be located right along Lake St. Lake St happens to have the El train run right over it. Their nephews, just so happen to currently be obsessed with trains….

Congratulations you two. It was a privilege to be invited into your intimate day and witness the next phase of your love story. Cheers to many more years!
