Weddings at The Chicago History Museum

Where history meets views.

Set within the green heart of Lincoln Park, the Chicago History Museum gives you the best of both worlds. You get a gorgeous location set within a park, along with being near enough to downtown for great skyline views (of the Hancock Building, in particular).

Plus, when else can you say your vows amidst gorgeous Georgian architecture then sip a cocktail next to one of Chicago’s first L cars? It makes for a wonderfully unique, very “Chicago” wedding (without being cliché).

The overall space is polished and genteel without feeling fussy, and it gets the details right. In some other places, the walls, floor, ceiling, those background details can be incredibly distracting in photos! You have no idea how many fire exit signs I’ve photoshopped out of First Dance moments. The black and white checked floor of the Morse Genius Chicago Room or the framed stained glass along the back walls make for a great setting for all of your once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Ceremony & Reception Spaces

Morse Genius Chicago Room: One thing I love about weddings and receptions at the Chicago History Museum is what it includes. The stately Chicago Room makes for a gorgeous, formal space, but rentals also come with the use of the lobby, gallery, and the parkside plaza. Meaning, if Mother Nature behaves you could have a lovely outdoor ceremony with an epic staircase, but you’ll be just as happy with an indoor ceremony flanked by stained glass. In total, the Chicago Room seats 300 for dinner and 350 for a cocktail reception.

A Chicago History Museum wedding day was the perfect setting for Caroline & Henry. Timeless style with just the right touch of glam not only describes their aesthetic but their personalities as well. It’s the type of simplicity that actually takes a lot of work to get just right.
