Chicago is known for a lot of things. The Skyline, the Bean, deep dish pizza, painful baseball teams and fantastic jazz might be some that top the list of many, but for Maria & Dan, when they think of Chicago, they think of the plethora of unique small businesses and local artists that make up this vibrant city. They think of how amazing it is that we have a bustling urban center filled with natural hideouts that allow you to forget about the city. And when I think about Maria & Dan, I think about some of the most kind and considerate people I’ve met. To utilize one of the biggest days in your life as a way to support and promote local artists is just about the coolest thing I can imagine and these two stayed true to this goal through each and every detail of the day. The result of this deeply rooted value was a day so personal to their story and their families, not a single solitary detail didn’t have a story – even down to the scent of Maria’s perfume…
Of course, this all started with the first detail, Maria’s engagement ring! This custom beauty was created by Queen Bijoux. Dan’s ring was custom made by Rebecca Zemans Jewelry, who is based out of Lill Street Art Center (one of my personal favorite lunch spots!).
Michelle Pressler Jewelry is responsible for the remainder of Maria’s jewelry, which added just the right old world glam to her look.
I’m going to be honest, trying to find the perfect place to hang wedding dresses does not top my list of favorite things to do. However, when the bride loves jazz-age glamor and you walk past this stairwell, the sky is the limit! Big thanks to our second shooter for the day, Candice Cusic, for envisioning this beauty.
I ADORE the light mint bridesmaids dresses. Such a timeless color that provided just the right amount of pop without being too distracting from all of their gorgeous faces!
Dan’s cufflinks coordinated perfectly with the floral theme of their day, and with the bridesmaids as well!
Deep breathes Dan, deep breathes 😉
St. Clements Church Lincoln Park has been Maria’s home church for her time in Chicago, so it was already a personal place to say “I do,” but when you add in it’s absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous Byzantine decor it’s the icing on the cake and a very important nod to her Byzantine heritage! I love watching as family & friends, excited to see each other and thus chatting away, walk through the door and just stop in awe, soaking in all St. Clement’s has to offer.
Remember that floral theme? Yep, even St. Clement’s naturally fit in!
Mints, golds, Maria’s greek goddess like Jenny Yoo gown and florals that were perfectly put together yet still looked so natural that could have almost been picked out of Maria & Dan’s garden? That, my friends, is 110% bridal party perfection.
#BridesWithTights. The trend started here people and all credit goes to Maria!
Holy cow Maria! So stinkin’ gorgeous!!
With guests traveling from near and far to meet Maria & Dan in Chicago, they wanted to be sure to treat them to some particularly delicious Chicago cuisine and Salvatore’s Restaurant in Lincoln park was the perfect solution!
And then Dan’s grandma absolutely stole the dance floor…
Thank you so much for inviting us into your Best Day Ever, Maria & Dan! Wishing you all the happiness in the world! (And to Maria’s co-workers and writing enthusiasts, I hope you skimmed the text and focused more on the visuals! hehe)
