Washington DC Wedding at the Wharf – Sammi & Don

RMP Couples

This Washington DC wedding day story can’t begin without first talking about Danielle and the team at Magnolia Bluebird, because without them, I would have never met these two wonderful people. You see, that’s what a great planner does – Sure yes, they are organized and help you with all of the logistics, but more than that, they help you build your dream team. They get to know you and understand what other professionals you would naturally get along with. A great planner is like having a great coach – It’s all fine and well if Lebron James is on your team, but if you don’t have the right coach in charge to pull together all of the talent (of all of the players) into a cohesive vision, odds are, you won’t be nearly as successful as you could have been. From our first phone call, we were chatting as though we’d known each other for so much longer than 20 minutes, to no surprise of Danielle. That kind of synchronicity is always important, but add to it the fact that I wouldn’t meet Sammi & Don until we had their engagement session this past Spring and then not see each other again until their DC wedding day 5 months later, and it’s particularly crucial you naturally connect.

Part of why I love to travel for wedding days so much is because it typically means I’m documenting the full story of the weekend’s festivities, rather than just the one day. We started things off for Sammi & Don’s Washington DC wedding weekend by recreating the first trip they took immediately after Don proposed. The cobblestone side streets outside of Del Mar at the Wharf made for the perfect callback to their celebratory trip to Paris (and they even put on the same outfits they were photographed in there!). I love when a story comes full circle 🙂
