Chicago Rookery Wedding – Dena & Travis

RMP Couples

Dena knew from the start that she was “totally obsessed with Travis,” while Travis thought he had met one of the most clever girls in the world.  Who else would have sent such an “OMG” text message on April Fools?!  At this point now, I’m sure Dena is ready to put her most embarrassing moment past her and enjoy the fact that no number of accidental text message recipients, matching outfits, or awkward bystanders could get in the way of what is meant to be.  And clearly, between their adoring smiles and jaw-dropping classic looks, these two are perfectly matched.

Dena & Travis’ downtown Chicago Rookery wedding is what wedding dreams are made of.  Not only is The Rookery one of my all-time favorite locations, Nicole of LK Events brought together a truly rockstar team to showcase Dena’s perfectly classic style.  I was laying wide awake at 1:00am the night before their wedding bright eyed with excitement!  Between a bird cage veil, hand-made by a close family friend, truly ideal weather, Travis’ fantastic dipping abilities (do you remember their engagement session?!) and all the quintessential Chicago architecture the Rookery has to offer, it’s no wonder this is about to be one of the longest posts this year!  But trust me, you aren’t going to want to miss a single perfect detail.

We started things off at the W Chicago City Center

Meanwhile, Travis and the boys put on their finishing touches at their new apartment.  How Dena managed to move AND unpack all amidst final wedding preparations which took place while gearing up for her next year of medical school is beyond me (Says the woman who still has boxes in her apartment from a move 1 month ago!).

Confession:  I am not a big fan of hanging dress images.  I don’t know why, but they’ve never inspired me very much (no offense to any of my colleagues, because there are some really stellar images out there!), but this image on the left, this little peek at Dena’s dress… this, was love at first sight.

I also adore the minimalism of the following image…

Throughout all the weddings I’ve had the privilege to be a part of, the strong hugs and beaming smiles during First Looks are consistently unparalleled to any other moment during any day.  As to be expected, the glow from these two in the moments surrounding their first time together, was nothing short of radiant.

The bokeh, the look, the bird cage veil… Oh my!

It wouldn’t be a downtown Chicago wedding without the skyline, and Olive Park was the perfect spot for both Dena & Travis’ intimate First Look as well as some classy bridal party skyline shots.  Then it was quickly back to the Rookery, for all the amazingness my favorite architectural locale has to offer.

The deep purple of the bridesmaids dresses brought in the perfect rich accent color to set against the white and gold palette found throughout the Rookery itself, as well as all of Dena & Travis’ details.  Speaking of details!  The ladies at LK Events don’t miss a single beat – down to the little tissues tucked under the programs on each parents’ seat.

This next one is climbing the charts for favorite ceremony image ever…

After a ceremony full of fond – albeit sometimes embarrassing – memories, Dena & Travis were officially Mr. & Mrs!  As guests enjoyed a delicious signature cocktail and yummy snacks, the staff of Jewell Events Catering transformed the ceremony space in the blink of an eye and Lee of Scarlet Petal, added just the right soft golden touch to each table.

Some yummy Garrett’s popcorn was enjoyed by guests, but not before this simply elegant cake by Bittersweet.  I love how the beading along the edges of each tier compliments Dena’s hand-made beaded belt!

And then it was time to dance (and dip!) the night away…

And last, but most certainly not least… Yowza!!!

Congratulations Dena & Travis!  I am immensely honored to have been a part of your absolutely perfect day.  Between medical school, MBAs, and the general craziness of life, I wish you long days of cuddles and deep laughter that comes with many more years of perfect accidental texts.  🙂  Much love, Rebecca
